Family histories of six families, all originating from The Netherlands, who's family trees now share branches after crossing the Atlantic on a steamer and emigrating to the
United States of America.
|
Family history of DeGraaff (de Graaff):
who have their roots in the historic
Dutch city of Alkmaar
which is famous for it's historic cheese market.
A family of which we still have to find confirmation of where
they originated
from, in the 18th century and before.
Family history of VanderVoort (van der Voort):
like the family DeGraaff, they too have their roots in
Alkmaar, Noord Holland, Nederland.
Van der Voort is a common name in Holland and today is not
bound to any province in particular.

Family history of Nieuwenburg:
originated from Leiden, Zuid Holland.
Pure Dutch or, if even older generations are unveiled and
confirmed, maybe the roots lead back to Germany.
Family history of VandenBerg (van den Berg):
originated from Ooststellingwerf on the eastern border of the
Province of Friesland in The Netherlands.
Family history of Zee:
originated from Winkel, Niedorp in the heart of the Province
of Noord Holland in The Netherlands.
Family history of Feikema:
originated from the north western part of the province
of Friesland, The Netherlands.
Feikema is a wide spread name in Holland, probably because
they like to raise large families, as this family tree shows aswell.
